About Clarity
Clarity is designed to complement professional treatment, not replace it. Many therapists recommend Clarity as a between-session tool to help patients practice CBT techniques on their own. The app teaches the same skills used in therapy, making it a powerful supplement to professional care.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is the gold standard treatment for anxiety and depression, backed by decades of clinical research. The cognitive side helps you spot and challenge unhelpful thought patterns - called cognitive distortions - and replace them with more balanced thinking. The behavioral side targets the actions that keep you stuck: avoidance, withdrawal, inactivity. Change how you think and what you do, and how you feel follows.
Clarity integrates five evidence-based therapeutic frameworks: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Positive Psychology, and Mindfulness. Each approach is implemented under the guidance of our Chief Medical Officer, a board-certified psychiatrist.
Yes - Clarity is designed for exactly this. You can share your insights, mood trends, and assessment results with your therapist to make your sessions more productive. Many mental health professionals actively recommend Clarity to their patients.
Clarity is built on evidence-based techniques that are effective for a wide range of mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, stress, low mood, negative thinking patterns, and difficulty managing emotions. While Clarity is not a diagnostic tool, its CBT and DBT exercises are the same techniques used by therapists to treat these conditions.
Yes. Clarity is available in over 10 languages, including English, Spanish, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, and more. The app will automatically use your device's language setting when available.
Privacy & Security
Yes. Your data is stored locally on your device by default. We never sell your data. Cloud backup is optional, and you can protect the app with Face ID or Touch ID. Your mental health journey is yours alone.
No, we do not sell any data to anyone - not to data brokers, insurance companies, social media platforms, or any other third party. We take your privacy very seriously. Clarity stays afloat through our premium subscription (Clarity Pro), not by monetizing your personal information. We are in the business of improving mental health, not selling data.
By default, no personally identifiable information is collected. There is no account creation requirement. We use anonymous analytics to understand how the app is used in aggregate (e.g., which features are most popular), but this data cannot be tied back to any individual. If you opt into Cloud Sync, your entries are linked to your Apple or Google account and stored in an encrypted cloud database. For full details, see our Privacy Policy.
Yes. You can lock Clarity behind Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode. Go to Settings > Passcode Protection to enable this feature. Every time you open the app, you'll be prompted to authenticate before your entries are visible.
Subscription & Pricing
Core CBT features including the Analyze Thought journal, daily Check Ins, mood tracking, and insights are free forever - no account required. Clarity Pro unlocks all 60+ guided journals, AI features, clinical assessments, crash courses, and more for approximately $60/year (price varies by country).
Your subscription is managed through your device's app store, not through Clarity directly.
On iOS: Open Settings on your device > tap your name > Subscriptions > select Clarity. From here you can change your plan or cancel.
On Android: Open the Google Play Store > tap your profile icon > Payments & subscriptions > Subscriptions > select Clarity.
You can also go to Settings > Manage Subscription within the Clarity app, which will take you directly to the right place.
This can happen in rare cases, especially after reinstalling the app or switching devices. To fix it, go to Settings > Restore Purchases within the Clarity app. Make sure you're signed into the same Apple ID or Google account that was used for the original purchase.
Because payments are processed by Apple and Google, refund requests must be submitted directly to them. On iOS, visit reportaproblem.apple.com. On Android, go to your Google Play purchase history or contact Google Play Support. For more details, visit our support page.
Syncing & Data
Cloud Sync is an optional feature that backs up your entries to a secure, encrypted cloud server via Firebase. Once enabled, your data syncs automatically across all devices signed into the same Apple or Google account. To enable it, go to Settings > Cloud Sync and toggle it on. Cloud Sync is off by default to protect your privacy.
If your entries aren't syncing, try these steps:
- Make sure Cloud Sync is enabled on both devices under Settings > Cloud Sync.
- Verify that you're signed into the same Apple or Google account on both devices.
- Check that both devices have a stable internet connection.
- Ensure you're running the latest version of Clarity on both devices.
- Try toggling Cloud Sync off and back on.
The easiest way is to enable Cloud Sync on your current device before switching. Once your entries are synced to the cloud, install Clarity on your new device, sign into the same account, and enable Cloud Sync. Your entries will appear automatically. Without Cloud Sync, your entries are stored only on your device and cannot be transferred.
Yes. You can export your journal entries and mood data from within the app. Go to Settings > Export Data to generate a file you can save or share. This is useful for sharing progress with your therapist or keeping a personal backup.
